The
publishing programme was launched with the foundation
of Bharatiya Jnanpith in 1944. The two series
of publications, Moortidevi Granthamala and Lokodaya
Granthamala, have the latest score of 898 (207+691)
titles, the quality of which places Bharatiya
Jnanpith among the topmost publishers of the country.
The works brought out under the Moortidevi Granthamala
are demanded preferably by the seats of Jain faith
and other institutes promoting philosophy and
spirituality. The government and private libraries
and individual readers pruchase these books in
a sizeable number.
The prices of Moortidevi Granthamala publications
are kept extraordinarily low considering the benefit
of insitutes and individuals, as many as possible.
The series is all the time up with research editing,
printing and reprinting. So also about the Lokodaya
Granthamala publications the prices of which also
are low enough in comparison to other publications
of cognate nature.
Bharatiya Jnanpith is a charitable turst and not
a commercial one. It, therefore, brings out such
works which other publishers would not dare undertake.
The Jnanpith is known for the originality and
contemporaneity of publications and for introducing
propagation through Hindi translations of the
selected creative literary works from other languages.
Above the tendancy of profit-making, the Jnanpith
policy is different from that of other publishers.
Jnanpith also aims at creative interference against
the disfiguration of culture beyond the narrowness
of commercial view. The Bharatiya Jnanpith is
not simply a publishing insitute, it also is a
mission.
Sales Centres
For its expansion, Bharatiya Jnanpith has opened
two sales centres, one at Lodi Road, named Jnanpith
Pustak Kendra and the other at Daryaganj, named
Jnanpith Vikray Kendra. From these centres Jnanpith
carries on its sales activities.
Sales Representatives
The Institution has two sales representatives,
who travel all over India almost throughout the
year. They contact the Book Sellers of Jnanpith,
for further orders. In order to increase sale,
on the one hand they contact new Book Sellers
and on the other hand, they search for possibilities
of bulk purchase by the Government and other organisations.
They keep the office informed about the Market
tendency, public opinion about its various publications.

Pustak Mela (Book Fair)
Bharatiya Jnanpith is one of the renowned publishers
in India, whose participation in the book fairs
is always welcomed. Every year Jnanpith participates
in nearly 15 Book Fairs in different parts of
the country. Through these Book Fairs an institute
not only gets publicity but also can sell its
old stock and the rare books which are not easily
available. The Book Fairs provide a platform to
announce new programmes and help in contacting
new readers, institutions, publishers & book
sellers. Jnanpith has participated in the Book
Fairs at Kolkata, Delhi, Patna, Allahabad, Lucknow,
Kanpur, Bhopal, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and
other important cities. Achievement of fairs have
been significant.

particulars of 20 books in English along with
the title pages. Surprisingly, certain books,
have already been sold through the website. Jnanpith
will provide the summaries of all the important
books in near future to the website. The address
of Times website is-www.planetm.co.in
Jnanpith also can be contacted at webdunia, the
biggest website in HIndi. Abbreviations of 66
books have already been sent to webdunia. It will
also display book cover and other perticulars.
We hope that through these two websites, Jnanpith
publications will get worldwide publicity.
To Conclude
Bharatiya Jnanpith, in spite of being an eminent
publisher, has not been able to reach the height
of business, as per expectation, because of its
confinement to certain ideals and paucity of publicity
measures. The popularity of these schemes will
be accellerated by the project shown above and
through the media including advertisement in magazines
etc. A special type of publicity material is being
prepared for the fulfilment of this goal,
The Jnanpith is also planning to hold, from time
to time, seminars and book-releases, with the
publicity of books in view. This very June, the
Prime Minister has released one of Jnanpith books.
